FUTURES PROGRAM OF ACTIVITIES, SERVICES, AND RESEARCH
Three3 launched their Futures Program in conjunction with the publication of Three3’s President’s book: Anticipation, Sustainability, Futures and Human Extinction: Ensuring Humanity’s Journey into the Distant Future (Routledge Publishing, London, 2021). The Futures Program builds upon key aspects of this book to foster equitable, sustainable futures by raising consciousness and conceiving of actions that thought leaders and community-focused organizations can take regarding the obligations our current generations have to future generations and why we should care about future generations. The Futures Program has three main components:
All the activities will be tailored to the specific needs of participants in community-based organizations, non-profit organizations, municipal and state governments, firms, and philanthropic foundations. Program content can be effectively tailored to address issues in the energy efficiency, housing, health care, climate change, and environmental policy sectors with respect to racial equity and human rights.
The Futures Program director, Dr. Bruce Tonn, is President of Three3. Dr. Tonn has published in the futures studies literature for over 30 years. He is an Associate Editor of the Elsevier journal, Futures. The Program’s activities draw upon his successful integration of these ideas in classroom and peer activities as a professor at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and through Three3’s successful teaching, facilitation, and research projects.
- Activities for Thought Leaders – Individualized programs ranging from webinars to multi-day workshops with intellectually challenging sessions to engage participants around a) why we should care about future generations and b) what obligations current generations have to future generations.
- Using Futures – Activities designed for individuals, communities, and organizations to conceive and plan for equitable and sustainable preferred futures with a focus on empowering historically under-represented groups and communities of color.
- Research and Consulting – Customized proposals for targeted research and consulting to equip researchers and organizations worldwide to better conceive, lead, and conduct effective disciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research.
