Erin was awarded a Master of Laws (with Merit) in Human Rights from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Her legal dissertation titled, ‘Analysis of whether international or regional human rights law has spurred meaningful change in domestic housing policy’ considered the human right to adequate housing articulated across a number of declarations and treaties, relevant case law generated from international, regional and domestic courts, and other UN guidance, social science and data resources to fully understand the critical need for the human right to adequate, affordable and secure housing to advance meaningful outcomes, secure social minimums, and expand freedoms and capabilities for human flourishing.

Exciting news! We have just completed the process of enlarging our office space to accommodate Three3's rapid growth and future expansion plans. Over the last year we have substantially increased our project portfolio and anticipate hiring new team members in order to continue the successful trajectory of the company. Stay tuned!

In celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the founding of the University of TN's College of Social Work, Erin was named as one of 75 social workers—alums, faculty, staff, and others—whose work and lives exemplify the 12 Grand Challenges that have been identified by the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare were honored. Erin is the 9th honoree, recognized for fulfilling Challenge #7 — "creating social responses to a changing environment." Again Erin, from your friends/colleagues, keep up the great work, we are proud of you!

Three3 was awarded a grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, through its Evidence for Action: Investigator-Initiated Research to Build a Culture of Health program. Through this research project we will explore the health impacts of Knoxville's Extreme Energy Makeover (KEEM) program and examine the program's impacts on: health and well-being, and related healthcare costs; as well as how energy cost savings affect household budgets. Not only are we honored to be a RWJF grantee but we are wicked excited that we have the opportunity to conduct this research in our home town; and collaborate with the City of Knoxville's Sustainability office, Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee (our local weatherization agency), Tennessee Valley Authority, Knoxville Utilities Board, and The Center for Applied Research and Evaluation (CARE) at the University of Tennessee.

Three3 and partner, Seventhwave, were awarded a planning grant to develop research designs aimed at identifying and measuring the health impacts and resilience benefits—both building systems and social resilience—attributable to improved energy efficiency in affordable multifamily housing. Massachusetts Low-Income Single-Family Health- and Safety-Related Non-Energy Impacts (NEIs) Study
Eversource, New England’s largest energy delivery company along with six other gas and electric utility companies in the State of MA contracted Three3 to estimate the health and safety-related non-energy impacts (NEIs) accruing to recipients of energy efficiency services residing in low-income households in Massachusetts. The NEI study includes the evaluation and monetization of eight NEIs: 1) reduced asthma symptoms; 2) reduced cold-related thermal stress; 3) reduced heat-related thermal stress; 4) reduced missed days at work; 5) reduced use of short-term, high interest loans; 6) increased home productivity; 7) reduced carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning; and 8) reduced home fires.
The overall valuation results were driven quite strongly by the assertion that the program is saving lives; however, given the uncertainty surrounding the estimate of the number of deaths avoided, the household cost savings are presented in the final report both with and without the avoided death benefit (with the avoided death benefit applied as a household benefit). The annual estimated total values of the monetized NEIs selected for the study, per weatherized unit, for both societal and household benefit categories are as follows:

2016 Spring/Summer
- Three3 moved into our new offices in downtown Knoxville! We are now sharing office space with another local non-profit organization, the East Tennessee Foundation. We are quite excited about our central location and increasing our involvement in the community. We have since been invited to partner on a few local projects and are looking forward to many more of these opportunities!
- Three3 was invited to serve on the Tennessee Healthy Homes Partnership Advisory Board. During the second annual meeting Beth Hawkins, our VP of Research Development, presented our research findings that focused on the health-related non-energy impacts (NEIs) of DOE's Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP). The mission of TNHHP is: To collaboratively advance healthy homes through outreach, education, evidence-based strategies, measurable outcomes and enhanced resources for all Tennesseans.
